Department of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases

General Description

The Department of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases is a specialized field of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the hormonal system and metabolic structure of children from birth to adolescence.

In our hospital, this unit monitors a wide range of endocrinological and metabolic diseases, such as growth and development problems, diabetes, thyroid disorders, early or delayed puberty, and congenital metabolic diseases.


Services Provided

  • Diagnosis and treatment of growth and development disorders (short stature, weight problems)

  • Management of puberty problems such as early puberty and delayed puberty

  • Diagnosis and follow-up of childhood diabetes (Type 1 diabetes)

  • Thyroid diseases (hypothyroidism, goiter, nodules)

  • Adrenal gland diseases (congenital adrenal hyperplasia, etc.)

  • Disorders of sex development

  • Monitoring of congenital metabolic diseases (phenylketonuria, galactosemia, etc.)

  • Management of hypoglycemia and insulin resistance

The unit stands out with its child-specific approach, long-term follow-up, and patient management carried out in coordination with the family.


Education and Academic Activities

The Department of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism provides training to both pediatric residents and medical students.

  • Case discussions

  • Current literature meetings

  • Interpretation of endocrine tests

  • Creating a monitoring plan for long-term follow-up
    are among the training topics.

In addition, contribution is made to scientific development through academic projects and participation in national congresses.
