Forensic medicine

General Description

Forensic medicine is a specialty that sits at the intersection of medicine and law, shedding medical light on forensic cases. It supports the justice system by using scientific medical methods to clarify deaths, injuries, sexual crimes, and various other forensic cases.

The Department of Forensic Medicine at our hospital provides expert witness services regarding forensic cases and provides training on ethics and judicial responsibility for medical students and healthcare professionals.


Services Provided

  • Forensic examination and reporting (injuries caused by assault, sexual assault, abuse, etc.)

  • Investigation of the cause of death and autopsy evaluations

  • Medical document reviews and expert witness services for forensic files

  • Multidisciplinary evaluation in sexual abuse and neglect

  • Expert opinion reports to be submitted to the court regarding judicial files

  • Evaluations regarding medical malpractice

  • Age determination, criminal capacity and civil capacity assessments

  • Medical examination of psychological status after traumatic events

All procedures are carried out within the framework of patient confidentiality and ethical principles.

The Department of Forensic Medicine, especially for medical school students:

  • Medical examination and reporting techniques in forensic cases
