Definition
Testicular torsion is the disruption of blood flow to the testicle due to twisting of the spermatic cord.
Symptoms
- Sudden onset of severe testicular pain
- Swelling and redness in the testicle
- Nausea and vomiting
- Pain in the groin
Reasons
Congenital anomalies, trauma, sudden movements.
Diagnosis
Physical examination, Doppler ultrasound, scintigraphy.
Treatment
Emergency surgical detorsion, orchidopexy.
