Definition
Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2) is an autosomal dominant syndrome characterized by medullary thyroid cancer, pheochromocytoma, and hyperparathyroidism.
Symptoms
- Medüller tiroid karsinomu (%100)
- Feokromositoma (%50)
- Hiperparatiroidi (%20-30)
- Mucosal neuromas in MEN2B
Reasons
Activating mutation in the RET proto-oncogene.
Diagnosis
Genetic testing, calcitonin, catecholamine screening.
Treatment
Prophylactic thyroidectomy, pheochromocytoma surgery.
