Definition

Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome is a paraneoplastic or autoimmune disease characterized by autoantibodies against presynaptic voltage-gated calcium channels.

Symptoms

  • Proximal muscle weakness
  • Autonomic dysfunction
  • Decreased reflexes
  • Relationship with small cell lung cancer

Reasons

Autoimmune, paraneoplastic syndrome.

Diagnosis

EMG, antibody tests, cancer screening.

Treatment

3,4-diaminopyridine, immunosuppressives.
