Definition

Krabbe disease is a lysosomal storage disease characterized by progressive neurological disorder and peripheral neuropathy, resulting from galactocerebrosidase enzyme deficiency.

Symptoms

  • Irritability
  • Hypotonia
  • Neurological decline
  • Peripheral neuropathy

Reasons

GALC gene mutation.

Diagnosis

Enzyme activity, genetic testing.

Treatment

Bone marrow transplant.
