Definition
Hypopituitarism is a condition that occurs when the pituitary gland produces insufficient amounts of one or more hormones.
Symptoms
- Severe fatigue
- Weight loss
- Hypotension
- Decreased sexual desire
Reasons
Pituitary tumors, surgery, radiotherapy, Sheehan syndrome.
Diagnosis
Pituitary hormone tests (ACTH, TSH, FSH, LH, GH), pituitary MRI.
Treatment
Replacement of deficient hormones (cortisol, thyroid hormone, sex hormones).
