Definition

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism, which develops as a result of chronic autoimmune inflammation of the thyroid gland.

Symptoms

Reasons

Autoimmune reaction, genetic predisposition.

Diagnosis

Anti-TPO and anti-thyroglobulin antibodies, thyroid hormone tests.

Treatment

Levothyroxine replacement therapy.
