Definition

Goodpasture syndrome is an autoimmune disease characterized by anti-GBM antibodies affecting the lungs and kidneys.

Symptoms

  • Bloody sputum
  • Shortness of breath
  • Blood in the urine
  • Kidney failure

Reasons

Autoantibodies against basement membrane antigens.

Diagnosis

Anti-GBM antibody test, kidney biopsy.

Treatment

Plasmapheresis, immunosuppressives.
