Definition
Glucagonoma is a rare neuroendocrine tumor originating from the alpha cells of the pancreas that secrete excess glucagon.
Symptoms
- Necrolytic migratory erythema (skin rash)
- Diabetes
- Weight loss
- Pain and inflammation of the tongue (glossitis)
Reasons
Sporadic or part of MEN1 syndrome.
Diagnosis
High serum glucagon level, pancreatic imaging.
Treatment
Surgery, somatostatin analogs.
