Definition

Familial adenomatous polyposis is an inherited syndrome characterized by hundreds of polyps in the colon and an increased risk of colorectal cancer.

  • Multiple colon polyps

  • Desmoid tumors
  • Extraintestinal findings

Reasons

APC gene mutation.

Diagnosis

Colonoscopy, genetic testing.

Treatment

Prophylactic colectomy.
