Danon Disease

Definition

Danon disease is an X-linked dominant disease characterized by cardiomyopathy, myopathy and mental retardation, resulting from LAMP2 gene mutation.

Symptoms

  • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  • Skeletal muscle myopathy
  • Mental retardation
  • Retinal involvement

Reasons

LAMP2 gene mutation.

Diagnosis

Genetic testing, muscle biopsy.

Treatment

Cardiac monitoring.
