Definition

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is an inherited neurological disorder characterized by progressive degeneration of peripheral nerves.

Symptoms

  • Weakness in the feet and legs
  • Muscle atrophy
  • Sensory loss
  • Foot deformities

Mutations in genes such as PMP22 and MPZ.

Diagnosis

EMG, genetic testing.
