Definition
Carney complex is a rare autosomal dominant genetic syndrome characterized by multiple myxomas, skin pigmentation, and various endocrine tumors.
Symptoms
- Cardiac myxomas
- Lentigines and bluish nevi on the skin
- Primary pigmented nodular adrenal disease (PPNAD)
- Pituitary adenomas
Reasons
Inactivating mutation in the PRKAR1A gene.
Diagnosis
Clinical criteria, genetic testing.
Treatment
Surgery for tumors, regular screening.
