Definition

Asthma is a respiratory disease that develops as a result of chronic inflammation of the airways and is characterized by recurrent attacks of shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing.

Symptoms

  • Shortness of breath in the form of attacks
  • Wheezing
  • Feeling of tightness in the chest
  • Cough that increases at night

Reasons

Allergies, smoking, dust, pollen, genetic predisposition.

Diagnosis

Respiratory function tests.

Treatment

Inhaled bronchodilators and corticosteroids.
