A comprehensive CBRN drill was carried out in our hospital with the participation of AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) teams in order to increase our level of preparedness against possible chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) incidents.
While the drill was organized and conducted by AFAD employees, our hospital's Emergency Service, Disaster and Emergency Management, Infection Control, Civil Defense and Security units also actively participated.
As per the scenario, injured people who had suffered CBRN exposure were brought to our hospital. AFAD teams quickly responded to the scene and successfully completed initial identification, perimeter establishment, decontamination, and triage procedures.
Our Deputy Chief Physicians Prof. Dr. Neslihan KURTUL and Dr. Abdullah SÖKMEN also attended the drill, received information from the teams, and observed the application on site.
Deputy Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Neslihan KURTUL said the following in her statement after the drill: “This drill, carried out with the support of AFAD teams, will be an intervention tool for our hospital in case of a possible CBRN incident.
"It has strengthened its capacity. Thanks to such efforts, our teams are strengthening their ability to act more quickly and safely in emergencies. I would like to thank all AFAD personnel and hospital staff for their efforts."”
At the end of the drill, the implementation phases were evaluated in detail and potential areas for improvement were identified. Our hospital continues to be committed to increasing its disaster preparedness and crisis management capacity in collaboration with AFAD.
