A Realistic Fire Drill in Our Hospital

A realistic fire drill was held at our hospital to increase preparedness for potential fires and emergencies. The drill was successfully completed in cooperation with the AFAD Provincial Directorate and under the coordination of the Civil Defense Unit of KSÜ Health Practice and Research Hospital. Initial response to the fire, which broke out in the designated area as per the scenario, was conducted by the hospital emergency team. AFAD teams then arrived at the scene, brought the fire under control, and ensured the safe evacuation of patients. Hospital Chief Director İbrahim Palabiyik, Deputy Chief Physicians Prof. Dr. Metin Kilinç, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Kurtul also participated in the drill and monitored the process on-site. The drill, conducted in accordance with a real-life scenario, successfully tested the operation of fire alarm systems, staff compliance with evacuation procedures, and the coordination of emergency response teams. The post-drill evaluation emphasized that such practices increase staff awareness and encourage planned and informed action, rather than panic, in potential emergencies. Hospital management stated that training and drills for disasters and emergencies will continue at regular intervals and that patient and employee safety is always a priority.
