An awareness event organized by Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University Health Practice and Research Hospital as part of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7) was held at Piazza Shopping Mall and attracted great interest from the public.
“At the event, organized under the slogan "My Strength Comes from My Milk, My Milk Comes from My Mother," visitors were given comprehensive information about the indispensable importance of breast milk for infant health, the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby, and correct breastfeeding practices. Throughout the day, our hospital's expert healthcare personnel answered citizens' questions and provided information about common misconceptions regarding breastfeeding.
The event was attended by the Dean of the KSÜ Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Hafize Öksüz, the Chief Physician of our Hospital, Prof. Dr. Selçuk Nazik, Deputy Chief Physicians Prof. Dr. Yılmaz İnanç and Prof. Dr. Tuba Tülay Koca, along with the Assistant Head Nurses, the Head of the Pediatric Neonatology Department, Prof. Dr. Sadık Yurttutan, and the Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Prof. Dr. Alev Özer, who visited the stand. The protocol members thanked the healthcare professionals involved in the event and emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns conducted to protect and improve public health.
During the event, expectant mothers and new mothers were informed that breast milk is the sole source of nutrition for the first six months, strengthens the immune system, supports healthy growth and development, and also makes significant contributions to the mothers' health. Informative brochures were distributed, and participants had the opportunity to have one-on-one meetings with our experts.
As part of the event, various gifts specially prepared for mothers and expectant mothers were presented to the participants. Visitors had the opportunity to both receive accurate and reliable information about the breastfeeding process from our experts and share in the joy of this meaningful week with the gifts prepared for them.
